As many of you know, I've been a Mac girl for a few years now. I bought a Macbook about four years ago and am now on my third one. I thought I would be a diehard Macbook fan FOREVER.
Well, it's time for me to think again.
HP just sent me this HP Pavilion dm1 with AMD Vision, which is a fancy way of saying "uber-portable, lightweight laptop with full-size computer capabilities." I was shocked to find that:
1. I was up and running on the Internet within about five minutes of taking the HP Pavilion out of its box.
2. It is WAY more lightweight and portable than my Macbook pro and therefore better for traveling.
3. OMG IT IS FASTER THAN MY MACBOOK PRO OMG.
4. OMG IT COSTS LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT I PAID FOR MY MACBOOK PRO OMG.
Let's just say I'm not firmly committed to the Macbook cause any longer.
Add to that the fact that when I talked to my friends on the phone the next day during a CheeseburgHer Party conference call, they both expressed major HP envy when I told them about my new HP Pavilion. "Oh, HPs are the best," Lena sighed. "I had one and it lasted FOREVER." Yvonne also attested to the greatness that is HP. I felt all kinds of smug. What's good for the girlfriends IS GOOD FOR ME.

Of course, there are some technical, computery things about the HP Pavilion dm1 with AMD Vision that you might be interested in knowing as well. Allow me to share them with you:
- VISION technology means AMD has packed a whole lot of power onto a tiny chip (as much as the computers that used to take up an entire rooms years ago), giving you the power of a supercomputer in a sleek and super portable notebook. It also means you get up to 9 hours of battery life from the dm1.
- It has an 11” display, weighs just over 3 lbs and is about an inch thin.
- dm1 has enough memory to hold your favorite photos, music and videos
- CoolSense technology knows if the notebook is on your lap or the countertop and adjusts its temperature accordingly

I am a SAHM to a 12 week old and a 2 year old (26 months). We do not have any family around so our way of communicating to them is through blogging. Well this has become increasingly hard lately, for all we have is a desktop computer located in the office downstairs. I spend ALL of my time upstairs with the boys in the rec room and their rooms. Therefore, I have to stay up too late to catch up on the blog and then just end up posting pictures with a brief explanation because I do not have the energy to type up the memories to go along. I love to blog about our memories and turn the blog into blog books for them to look back on later in life. I've owned 2 Dell laptops and they both crashed within a year. I have a 5 year old son(who seems to have quite a lot in common with Bruiser) and he will be starting kindergarten next fall. I've managed to go this long without a home computer or internet, but I realize that those days are over... only problem- no money in the budget :(

I have been using the same computer since I started college in 2003 and it is SO slow and the monitor recently decided it wasn't going to work anymore so I have it hooked up to an external monitor which totally makes it impossible for me to travel with it.

My two-year old now loves to watch videos on YouTube - Disney shows, trains, planes, babies laughing - and our current several-year-old laptop is huge and heavy. I lost my job two years ago. I was fortunate enough to find a new one within five months but I took a $20,000 pay cut. Since then both of my parents have passed away and I am doing a lot of soul searching. I have to decided to make a drastic career change which will involve getting a second degree. My mother has been battling acute myeloid leukemia for three years, after a failed bone marrow transplant and a series of failed chemos I want to do somehting to cheer her up. Having one of these awesome new AMD Fusion powered HP's would really help me get a lot done. I love that this one is mid size and light weight.. with a full size keyboard and has Windows 7.
I also love that it has up to 9.5 hours of battery life and is ENERGY STAR® qualified.

Love HP! Our only computer is an HP desktop that's nearly 8 years old. It still runs well for us, but is definitely starting to show it's age and limitations. A laptop would be wonderful, and from what I've read, more energy efficient.

I would love to win this to give to a coworker who is a single parent and in school full time. She is a great example of never giving up and her computer bit the dust last week.
I want to win this HP Pavilion dm1 not really for me but for my sister. She's a grade-school teacher and I myself have become a witness to her dedication and love for her students. I know that winning this will highly help her not only with the school documents she regularly works on, but she can use it as well to further have more interactivity in her teaching. I would love to have something powerful and portable like this to take in the car with me while I drive my kids all over the place. I spend so much time driving and waiting during practices, etc. that I would love to have something I can bring with me so I can be more productive.

My Dell lappy is starting to do those ominous things that computers do when they are getting ready to bite the dust. It's only been an OK laptop as far as laptops go and I was actually considering going Mac the next time around...but...you've made me rethink that with the HP. We always buy HP printers, why not an HP laptop? So, I'd love to win this so that I can finally let the Dell RIP. And the CoolSense thing? That's worth the price of it right there. This lappy gets so hot sometimes I can barely stand to type on it.
My laptop is on it's last leg and I just don't have it in the budget to get a new one right now so this would come in really, really handy!!

I'm about to re-join the "outside" work force after being home with my kids for 10 years. Which means I'll be rejoining the PC world after 10 years in my Mac home. The HP Pavilion would smooth the transition!

I NEED this because my raggedy old Dell laptop must stay plugged in at all times or it doesn't work--kind of defeats the purpose of having a laptop, eh?

Oh, my.... Serious computer envy. Our desktop has bitten the dust and my daughter is begging for a laptop for her elementary school graduation next month. I won't say I NEED this, but it sure would make my life easier!
My laptop made it's rounds in Iraq with my brother-in-law before being retired and given to me by my generous sister. It has finally seen it's last days ~ and I'm in mourning.....! :)
