Unless I state otherwise, you can assume I received a free sample of the products that I review on this blog and, sometimes I also receive a gift certificate in exchange for writing an honest review. I've also begun writing sponsored posts here from time to time, but only for products that I personally believe in and endorse. Since I only agree to review those products I think I'll like, you'll find that most of these reviews are positive. I will, however, be honest regarding my opinions on reviews I choose to write, whether they are good or bad. Pinky swear.

I offer quite a few giveaways on this site, but if you win, your prize will be sent from the company offering it, not from my home. Consequently, I am not responsible for PR reps who mail your prize 4 months late (which happened once) or never mail it at all (which hasn't happened yet, fingers crossed).

Two lovely stepdaughters,
21 and 18.

One chatty daughter, 7.

One adventurous 4-year-old son.

One talented husband.

Holiday Gift Guide: TOMICA Car and Train Line Review and Giveaway!

If you haven't seen the commercials already, here is what your little boy (and maybe your little girl, too!) will be begging for this holiday season: a TOMICA car and train playset!

Toys R Us is carrying this line exclusively this Christmas season-- While it's new to the states, it's the number one die-cast car and train line in Japan, and my son is already freaking out every time he sees the commercial for the toys. Luckily, there's something in this line for every price point, whether the grandparents are pitching in and you're opting for this Super Big Set for $79.99 or you're starting a little smaller like we did, with a Repair Garage ($14.99) and Mini Shooter Set ($9.99).

From what I've seen of the line, I can't recommend it highly enough. The toy pieces are well-made and durable-- equally as important, they're easy for kids to put together on their own, LEGO-style. There are lots of interactive features and I love that kids can add on to their sets a little bit at a time for not too much money. I also love that it features both cars and trains, so you're not left deciding between one or the other with the available space you have in your home or apartment.

Want to give the toys a try yourself? I'm giving away a TOMICA Mini Tune Up Set to one lucky Suburban Turmoil reader! It comes with a Nissan SUV, Tomikids figure and other accessories! To enter to win, simply leave a comment on this post telling me why you'd like to win the Tune Up Set between now and Saturday, November 6th at midnight, CST. For an additional entry, tweet about this giveaway and leave a comment with the link to your tweet.

Good luck!

Disclosure: I received two small Tomica car sets in order to write my review.

When you are the mom of a little boy, what better justification for wanting a neat new vehicle playset is there? We live and breath vehicles....in the car, pretending at home, on TV.....they are a constant discussion. I'd just love to have it for my little dude!

My son saw that and FLIPPED. I haven't considered it but now I might look into it.

Long ago I had little boys and they loved little cars. They grew up and one has little girls now. My house abounds with dollies and dishes. But occasionally friends with little boys need a sitter and I'm the designated substitute Gramma. They all love cars and trains, so winning this would keep my house both blue & pink-friendly.

My son would love this set. At 3 1/2 he watches the different toy commericials on youtube and tells me everything that he wants. He is into all kinds of vehicles and asks for "tracks" all the time.

I am one who has a little girl who would love this, but I also have a boy who is just about to the age of being able to play with the smaller stuff too. It would pretty much work perfectly in our home, in other words. :-)

If you saw how many cars my son owns, you would know why I'd love to get one of these for him. He loves his cars and always palys with them. He always pretends the rug or floor is the road.

I'm the mother of a vehicle-crazy little boy. I never noticed how many different trype of trucks there are in the world until this little one joined the backseat crew. We identify every vehicle that drives with us on the roads. My little buddy would LOVE this set!

My son would erupt with joy over this set. He has taught me the names of every single vehicle there is, and he's only two!

My son would love this! He loves to play with his cars and this set would be perfect. I like toys like this that you can add on to with additional sets. It makes it easy to suggest gifts for grandparents to buy him.

This would be a great Christmas present for my 3 year old nephew. He seems to only get the leftovers of his older brother!

Great giveaway!
