The Great Yoplait Yoplus Giveaway!
I will freely admit that I prefer Yoplait Yogurt over all the other brands out there that I've tried. I also love it because every single member of my family will eat it, so we buy a lot of Yoplait around here! That's why I was happy to try out YoPlus Light for Yoplait and My Blog Spark, and host this awesome giveaway!First, a word about YoPlus Light. Each cup of YoPlus Light is just 70 CALORIES (immediately, I'm sold), and it also contains a special blend of probiotic cultures and 3 grams of natural dietary fiber. Add to that the fact that it tastes great and comes in Honey Vanilla, Strawberry Banana and my favorite, Key Lime Pie, and you've got a delicious, healthy snack/lunch option for anyone in your family.
And now for the giveaway! To help you maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle, Yoplait and My Blog Spark will provide one lucky Suburban Turmoil reader with a "Get Healthy" gift pack that includes a stylish sports bag, sports towel, ear buds and two free coupons* for any flavor of the new YoPlus Light yogurt! I have received the prize as well, and I can tell you, it is NICE.

Well...TRY is the operative word here. I try to monitor what we eat, cooking low fat, meals at home and I TRY to exercise....but let's face it. When you are homeschooling 3 boys (3rd, 1st & K), that's about ALL you get done during the day. Oh, and the occasional load of laundry.
What really jumpstarted my getting healthy was when a friend told me about thedailyplate.com. It is a free calorie counting site that allows you to type in what you ate and how your exercised. You set it up with all your stats and it tells you how many calories you can consume a day in order to lose two pounds a week, less, or to maintain your weight. You get extra calories of course when you work out. This site made me realize that while I was making healthier food choices already (except for my Starbucks habit), my portion sizes were way too large for my size. A year ago I dropped about thirty pounds and since then have been maintaining between a size 4 and 6. It is so nice to have it figured out and be in control of my weight for once! In regard to nutrition, I like to follow along with You On a Diet by Dr. Oz which talks a lot about ditching most of the simple sugars and eating more whole grain stuff. I also do much better with small meals all day long. Thanks to the Y, I can get work outs in while being responsible for two young children. Anyway, that's my story and I would love the fitness stuff since I have just started entering the world of weight machines which I have never done before!

When my son was born, my husband suggested that I join the gym. I've always been pretty fit, but had never joined a gym. It turned out to be one of the best ideas and it is still $80 well spent every month. I drop the kids off at the childcare...they love it and get some socialization. I get some exercise and a break from the kids. It's a win-win situation for a stay at home mom like me. I also cook a lot of my meals from Cooking Light and try to keep only healthy foods in my house. Of course I say this as I've just eaten a slice of pumpkin pie...but it was from a real pumpkin :)
I am always trying to live healthier. Currently, my focus is on my diet and getting more vegetaables in and eating less red meat. I love working out and it is never a challenge for me to go to the gym--so the diet part is hardest for me. Haven't seen these Yoplaits in teh store yet, but I'm a definite Yoplait girl too. Hope I win!
Before I met my husband I lost 50 pounds. I felt great---and he noticed me, and, well, that was lucky for me! Over the course of 2 babies in 5 years I got to the point where I was even heavier than before I lost the 50 pounds all those years ago. Sob!
In the last 6 weeks I have been back on the eating regimen that allowed me to lose 50 pounds in 2001. It's working! I've lost 20 pounds so far. I'm so happy, and my husband is too. I'm exercising, of course, but I find that changing my diet has made the biggest difference.
I try to eat healthy and stay active. I don't like working out so last spring I got a personal trainer at my gym and it's worked out great! I have someone who holds me accountable for working out and I DO feel so much better after. It's expensive but I am able to cash in my sick time at work and use it to pay for the trainer. So worth it!

We go on family walks in the evening. Our oldest son now asks after dinner "family walk now?" I love it!

I like biking or hiking at least twice a week. Jogging daily for 30 mins after work. Eat healthy as well, more veggie less meat.
We LOVE Yoplait here... I buy crazy amounts of yogurt, sometimes it's all my two year old will eat. And I've been drinking my water, thanks to the heads-up on the Crystal Light packets you had on here a few months back! :) It really is a noticable change, I'm not so bloated, my face is clear, my skin isn't dry... I never really realized how much drinking enough water would make a difference.
And someone else mentioned The Daily Plate... I do my best to at least put in what I've eaten all day, no matter how much the damage is. It helps me to hold myself accountable for eating half a batch of chocolate chip cookies, or pat myself on the back for eating oatmeal instead of Cocoa Puffs for breakfast :)
Oops.. that's aroseoakley at gmail dot com. :) Sorry!
Healthy living starts with a positive attitude...some discipline, too!
I make lists, tons of them, and make sure to include fun and rewards in there. Plus I look for local activities such as salsa lessons to get some cardio without it being the most boring activity.
Thanks!

I've committed to two changes in my routine that seem to be sticking; over time, I hope they'll add up to a real difference! One is to actually eat 5-6 servings of fruit/vegetables a day. I don't tell myself to skip other foods; I just make myself eat the produce first. Turns out it helps me fill up and skip the extra cookie (or three) after the meal! The other thing is to exercise at least a little bit every day. On days when I have time, I do longer workouts; on busy days, I do a quick bit of exercise; and then on really crazy days when don't have time...I don't deal with feeling guilty, because I know I'll get back on track tomorrow.
The DVR has spiced up my work-out routine. Before we had it, I pretty much walked or ran on the treadmill (and occasionally outside). Now, I do a Body Sculpting show once or twice weekly and walk/run once or twice weekly.
As for nutrition, we rarely eat out, which I think is much healthier. Haven't tried the Yoplait you mention, but might have to (esp. the Key Lime Pie).

I have found that group classes at the gym work the best for me. I go to a few different classes a week, and like the accountability and social aspect of working out with others. It also brings out my competitive side, so I think I do work harder.

My 7 yr old thinks Wii is a treat! We were bowling and playing tennis last night. Much better than going to Diary Queen. No matter how many times I try not to order anything when I take him, the Snickers Flurry calls to me.
Ive been trying to eat better since going to the Dr a few months ago and getting on the scales.
Yoplait is one of my favorite snacks I put it in the freezer for about min Its just like ice cream.

lovin the yogurt, pretty sure we should buy it by the truck load at our house
we have really started to only serve healthy snacks during the day to our kids. the problem is exercise. i just can't seem to figure out when to fit it in. it is very frustrating because i know i need to do it but...when?

TRY, indeed. Walking to and from the parking lot at work is the extent of my working out so far. Maybe this package would help me get started? Thanks!
water water water....and exercise as much as possible!!
What good timing... two friends of mine just started a workout club of sorts where we all meet at one's house and do workout DVDs. It's worked much better than me in my living room alone, and keeps me going on days when I would have skipped otherwise.
I'm trying to get back in shape after having a baby...I am getting up and exercising every morning and just joined Weight Watchers.
I bike to work (10 miles each way) at least twice a week, and run about 3 times a week. I also try to eat a healthy but not obsessively so diet and run around after my kids (6 and 7) as much as they'll let me. It's much easier because my husband and I both value exercise and focusing on fitness. I don't know if I could do it without a cooperative partner.
I have toddlers, so they keep me active. However, we bike/walk as a family after dinner and we are contantly playing outside sports. I also make most foods from scratch and choose healthy meals.

I was so worried about having the time to get my body back after Jenna. Thankfully I work for a hospital with a great fitness center that I go to on my lunch break. It's nice to get away from the office, and I don't have to worry about getting up early to work out or having to stay late and miss my girl. I have lost all 40lbs of baby weight plus 2 more. Im down to 147, and I'm 5'8 so it's a great weight for me.
I try to workout 5 days a week and eat reasonably healthy. I find if I let on slide the other goes too. If I keep working out, I feel like I'm wasting it by eating junk.

I have gotten rid of most processed foods in the house and all meat. My children enjoy all veggies (I'm very lucky) and prefer fruit for dessert. I also try to do outdoor activities with them or we like to dance inside when the weather is bad.
I want to set a great example for my children because unfortunately I was not brought up that way. Thanks to my husband I've learned how to incorporate and enjoy activities every day. Who knew that exercise could be fun?!

I try to maintain my health by taking care of my diabetes. I take my insulin, excersize and take great care as to what I put in my mouth. Also I am passing this way of life to my children, who hopefully with pass it on to their children too.
